SiMS signs up to resell Fast Fetch!
SiMS is pleased to announce the latest addition to its suite of inventory control software and productivity tools for tier 2 and tier 1 businesses. FastFetch Corporation's FastFetch Picking System provides fast and accurate multiple order (batch) picking using low-cost, wireless, infrared communications technology to enable light-directed picking from storage bays and light-directed putting to cart locations containing customer orders.
The system is NOT a traditional Pick-To-Light System since it also uses Voice and Bluetooth Barcode Scanning technologies and requires ONLY a PDA to control lights on both the picking bays and a cart to enable cluster picking. The system is also extremely effective when operated with lights on the cart only. In this scenario, the voice technology provides picking instructions in a mode similar to traditional voice picking systems. It can also be used for reverse logistics and picking with sequencing onto a cart. The system infrastructure is very simple since each bay and cart stands alone and needs only communicate with a PDA using simple, inexpensive IR technology.
Consequently, total system cost is often less than 50% of the cost of other order advanced fulfillment technologies. The host interface is also not complicated. A host computer need only prepare a simple Comma Separated Variable (CSV) file with the same data found on pick ticket line items (minimally Order#, SKU, Location, Quantity-to-Pick). This file is placed into a directory on a host computer and retrieved by the PDA prior to picking. After picking is completed, another CSV file (with the picking results) can upload to a directory on the host computer for subsequent processing. However, the system can operate without host uploads, printing reports for manual reconciliations of exception orders. If real-time operation is required, the upload file is sent to the host at the completion of each picking session at a location or bay.
